Marin Country, California

Located opposite Fort Point at the entrance to San Francisco Bay, Fort Baker features essentially intact historic structures and landscapes. The buildings represent some of the nation’s finest turn-of-the-century military architecture, and is listed as a historic district on the National Register of Historic Places.

ARG is a member of the design team lead by a developer to reuse Fort Baker as a conference and retreat center. ARG is responsible for the design direction, including master planning, programming, and design of new buildings compatible with the historic district. The center will be located in the historic buildings around the parade ground and in the adjacent nonhistoric residential area, providing space for meetings, dining, and accommodations for 156 guests. The project goal is to achieve a Silver LEED rating from the U.S. Green Building Council for sustainability in design, construction materials, and facility operations.
