Grand Canyon National Park: Yavapai Visitor Center
Built expressly for observing and understanding the geology of the Grand Canyon, the Yavapai Observation Station has long been a visitor favorite. The building’s sensational siting on the canyon edge is integral to its Arts and Crafts, rustic park style and expression. ARG prepared a detailed Historic Structure Report (HSR) and analyzed options to restore and preserve the structure as a geological interpretive facility. The goal was to revive the building’s original spirit and integrity and to allow visitors to again experience the Grand Canyon vistas from the open-air perspective of the original design. ARG also served as Architect for the project’s design and construction.
