Village Green
Historic Structure Report

  • Southern California

At the time of its opening in 1942, the Village Green received numerous awards for its innovative design as a super-block, low-density housing complex featuring expansive gardens and common green space, representative of Garden City planning principles.. The complex was converted to condominiums in the 1970s. ARG assessed the conditions of each building on the site and completed a Historic Structure Report that was used by the Village Green Homeowners’ Association to apply for a Mills Act contract. A National Historic Landmark and Los Angeles Historic-Cultural Monument, the Village Green was awarded a Mills Act contract in December 2010. It is the largest Mills Act contract ever awarded in the city. ARG continues to work with the Village Green Owners’ Association as they utilize the HSR to prioritize rehabilitation efforts.
