Presidio of San Francisco: The Inn at the Presidio Pershing Hall
- Northern California
Pershing Hall is a historic bachelor officers' quarters building constructed in 1903. ARG led the rehabilitation of the building to house a bed-and-breakfast style hotel. The project includes 22 guest suites, a reception/lounge in the historic officer’s lounge, and a dining room in the historic officer’s mess hall. Improvements to the means of egress allowed for the removal of non-historic fire escapes on the primary façade, restoring the original design intent. The interior design and furnishings highlight historic elements, while integrating new elements that embrace the modest character of the historic building. The project achieved a LEED Gold rating and features a bio-retention and stormwater treatment bay in a drainage ravine east of the site, which contributes to the Presidio Trust’s long-term effort to restore and revitalize the Tennessee Hollow Watershed.
