Point Reyes Cultural Landscape Inventory

  • Northern California

Located within the Point Reyes National Seashore, the tip of the Point Reyes peninsula is the location of a historic 83-acre light station and lighthouse dating to the 1870. The original light station structures included the lighthouse, two single-story keepers’ cottages, a horse barn, blacksmith shop, equipment sheds, coal and oil storehouses, water tanks, chutes, and wind protection features, such as wooden bulkheads, wind fences and planked walks around the dwellings. At the request of the National Park Service, ARG produced a modified Cultural Landscape Inventory (CLI) for the Point Reyes Light Station and amended the existing National Register nomination to include associated landscape features.
