Pasadena City Hall
- Southern California
Pasadena City Hall, completed in 1927, is a significant example of the City Beautiful movement. Designed by architects Bakewell and Brown, it is listed on the National Register. From 1989 through 2007, ARG served as the prime architect on the building’s seismic retrofit and complete phased interior and exterior restoration. Beginning with a Historic Structure Report, ARG oversaw all aspects of this project including: planning; programming; existing conditions assessment; structural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing system replacement with new sustainable systems; design work; rehabilitation of historically significant interior spaces; complete IT and AV re-wiring; fire, life safety and accessibility upgrades; and exterior plaster and cast stone facade restoration. The project received a GOLD LEED rating from the US Green Building Council, the first LEED-certified city facility.
