Mission Inn

  • Southern California

As both a cultural center for Southern Californians and a well-known resort, Riverside’s Mission Inn is a National Historic Landmark and a California Historical Landmark. Originally constructed in 1876, the expansion of the inn became a lifelong project for owner Frank Miller, who envisioned an international art and cultural center and collected museum-quality artifacts worldwide for the hotel’s expansion. Now occupying an entire city block, the building is complex, varying in scale and exhibiting a range of eclectic architectural styles. ARG provided development and conceptual design for the project, prepared the preliminary scopes for initial cost estimates, reviewed schematic designs, and prepared federal tax certification forms for the State Office of Historic Preservation and the National Park Service in conformity with The Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation.
