City of Los Angeles: Jefferson Park
Historic Preservation Overlay Zone (HPOZ) Survey

  • Southern California

Jefferson Park is a central Los Angeles neighborhood composed primarily of single-family residences constructed between 1905 and 1930.  It has one of the most cohesive concentrations of Craftsman bungalows in the city, most dating to the first decade of the 20th century.  The area is notable not only for the significance of its architecture but also for the diverse communities who have made a home there over the course of its history.  ARG was contracted by the City of Los Angeles to conduct a historic resources survey of Jefferson Park for its consideration for Historic Preservation Overlay Zone (HPOZ) designation.   Using an in-house survey database, ARG generated a DPR 523A Primary Record form for each of the 2009 properties in the district and compiled the final survey report.  The Jefferson Park HPOZ was successfully designated in June 2011.
