Hercules Village Historic District
- Northern California
In 1879 the Town of Hercules on San Francisco Bay was developed as a company town for workers of the Hercules Powder Works. The principal housing stock was built between 1880 and 1920 typically as Queen Anne style cottages or simpler two-story Colonial Revival homes. ARG provided complete architectural services for the relocation of twenty historic structures within the original town site. ARG services included site and landscape planning, rehabilitation and restoration of exterior façades and significant interior features, and interior design for new kitchens, baths, and living spaces. ARG also designed new garages in keeping with existing styles. The entire complex has been designated as a National Register Historic District.
