Curry Village Lounge & Registration Buildings
Yosemite National Park

  • Northern California

Curry Village is located in the eastern end of Yosemite Valley and opened in 1899. The site’s original lounge and registration buildings are simple wood-frame buildings characterized by rustic materials including unpeeled logs. ARG developed a Master Plan for Curry Village as part of the larger East Valley Plan. Our goal was to enhance the rustic quality of the original Curry Village core while solving the functional deficiencies and program needs of the buildings. The rehabilitation of the lounge and registration buildings was the first project outlined in the Master Plan to be completed. ARG also completed schematic design for a future new registration building. In 2011, the rehabilitation of the lounge and registration buildings won a design award from the Sierra Valley Chapter of the AIA.
