Culinary Institute of America: GatehouseChuck Williams Flavor Discovery Ctr
- Northern California
Located on the Culinary Institute of America’s (CIA’s) Greystone campus in the heart of the Napa Valley, the Chuck Williams Flavor Discovery Center educates visitors about the flavors of food and beverage and serves as a laboratory for food professionals. Originally a caretaker residence, the historic Gate House is a unique river stone building next to the Greystone gate. ARG served as Architect of Record for the rehabilitation, programming, and interior design of the new Flavor Discover Center. ARG designed the food research facility, including a 32-seat dining room and a state-of-the-art professional kitchen. Each seat in the dining room has audience response equipment and an individual microrecorder to record and tabulate observations and perceptions. Additionally, ARG’s scope of work included a seismic retrofit and interior design.
