Conservatory of Flowers

  • Northern California

Originally constructed in 1878, the Conservatory of Flowers is the oldest building in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park. One of San Francisco’s most noteworthy historical and cultural resources, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the California Register of Historical Resources, and as City and County of San Francisco Landmark No. 50. By the late 1990s the Conservatory’s wood structural members and glazing were severely deteriorated. With Tennebaum Manheim Engineers, ARG led the six-year restoration that featured the conservation, restoration, and rehabilitation of the Conservatory, including lateral strengthening, and new mechanical and electrical systems.
