CIty of Napa: Alta Heights
Historic Context Statement and Survey Report

  • Northern California

ARG completed a historic context statement and survey for the City of Napa’s Alta Heights neighborhood. This residential neighborhood, east of downtown along the east side of the Napa River, developed gradually over the first half of the twentieth century, and consists of single family dwellings in a variety of styles, including Victorian, Craftsman, Minimal Traditional, Mid-Century Modernism, and Ranch. ARG’s Alta Heights Historic Context Statement summarized important periods, events, themes, and patterns of development associated with the neighborhood, providing a foundation on which to base the assessment and evaluation of the area’s historic properties. ARG identified 47 properties, consisting of particularly early and/or architecturally notable buildings within the neighborhood, that merited further evaluation and possible local landmark designation.
